The marriage ceremonies I perform are usually pretty short, sweet and simple. Whether an intimate destination wedding, casual or formal, you can choose from my many sample ceremonies, or use them for inspiration to create your own unique ceremony script. If you don’t really know what you want, I can create a custom wedding ceremony script after meeting with you. The ceremony portion of the wedding usually is about 15-20 minutes long. You are welcome to add professional photography.
Island style weddings in Hawaii often begin with Hawaiian traditions, such as the blowing of a conch shell, or a lei greeting between the wedding couple. Flower leis can add a bit of color to your special day. Sometimes couples also give leis to guests of honor, such as parents or grandparents as part of the ceremony.
Other more modern island traditions, include unity gestures such as the blending of sand from beneath your feet, the offering of hands, honi, the touching of noses while breathing each other’s spirit at the same time, and many other ways of sharing aloha can be included in your wedding ceremony.
Service includes a personal meeting a day or two before your wedding, often after you get your marriage license, to go over the details and make sure everything will go smoothly and the ceremony style will reflect your genuine feelings and intentions.
My fee includes the cost of the beach permit, whether we use a beach or not. For other venues, my fee includes coordinating with the venue with my insurance documents, etc., but not the site fee itself.
I don’t share my sample ceremonies with the general public, but I’m happy to send you some examples of my marriage ceremony scripts, if I’m available for your wedding date, to help you decide if I’m the right officiant for you.
My wedding ceremony service includes a keepsake certificate, copy of your ceremony script and vows, prompt filing of your marriage license. I will dress for the event, in coordination with your color scheme and style, whether casual or formal. Yes, I will be in some of your wedding photos, so I want to blend in!

Same service as above, but the pronouns are different! I am happy to perform same sex, gay, lesbian and trans weddings. I was supportive of marriage equality long before it became a reality.
On December 2, 2013, same sex marriage became legal in Hawaii. Then on June 26, 2015, gay and lesbian marriages became legal in ALL FIFTY STATES! Finally, marriage in America means two people committing themselves to each other, building a solid secure future together.

Whether you’ve been married a week, a year, five years, ten, twenty or more, I’d love to help you celebrate your marriage with a custom ceremony. So many reasons why couples renew their vows. You can share your story with me and we can create a meaningful and inspiring celebration of your marriage.
My vow renewal service includes a personal meeting with you a day or two in advance, sample ceremony scripts for inspiration on a ceremony style that fits your vision, and help finding photography and other vendors you might find helpful in planning your event on my resources page. You will receive a keepsake copy of your ceremony script and a certificate of celebration.

Are you wanting to make a commitment of love to each other but are not prepared for a legal ceremony at this time? Then a commitment ceremony is for you. The wording is similar to a wedding ceremony. You make vows to each other, but we leave out the official marital language and the pronouncement is a little different. I give you a keepsake certificate, but we do not sign a legal document for the state.
$350
Similar to a commitment ceremony, but there is a legal paper we sign. Not quite a marriage, but the paperwork is similar to marriage, you apply for a civil union license, same as you would for marriage. A civil union functions more as a domestic partnership, and can sometimes help in financial situations, such as family health insurance, or tax and social security situations. Consult your financial advisor.

If you are planning a bigger social wedding later, and just want to sit down and sign your official marriage license first, I can hear your simple vows and sign the license to file with the state. NO PHOTOGRAPHS DURING THE SIMPLE SIGNING CEREMONY! I’m happy to take photos of you after. Please respect this boundary.
This economical signature service is offered Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. No Guests. No photography of the signing ceremony. No personal meeting in advance. We just use my standard marriage vows script. You are welcome to exchange rings and make your own personal vows if you like.
We usually do this at your home or a free outdoor location. I even did one of these simple signings literally on the steps of the State Building, minutes after the wedding couple got their marriage license! We can discuss a convenient location for the simple signing of your marriage license, or civil union license.
This is really just a formality, not what would normally be considered a wedding, but can be a budget friendly option for those wishing just a private exchange of vows and the signature service. I will likely be dressed in island business casual, not anything formal.
$250-$350
My fee depends on the depth of service. These are highly personal events which can be crafted after learning a bit about your family values. It can be fairly simple on my end, with you collecting the blessings and best wishes from family and friends in the way of letters and cards to the child, maybe choosing some poems, quotes, and bits of wisdom you would like to share and keep for your child as s/he gets older. Or, it can be a bit more comprehensive on my end, providing you with some materials and custom wording to express your intentions for the child. Each child celebration is unique, so contact me to discuss.

A custom funeral, memorial or celebration of life takes time, thought and the right words. I’m a certified funeral celebrant, trained to create meaningful and inspirational life tributes and memorials. A funeral means the body or the ashes are present, and is the main service where family and friends are present. A memorial is when the body or ashes are not present. A committal is where we commit the body or ashes to the earth or sea.
I meet with the family and welcome stories, writings, photos, memories to be able to get a good sense of your loved one, so the service leaves a lasting impression on those who attend. In this way, we are able to create a healthy transition from having your loved one warm and near, to creating a place in your heart, so you can carry their memory with you, along with their passions, dreams and values into your future.
$150-$350
If you’ve already had a funeral or memorial service for your loved one, and would like a more private ash scattering, or committal of ashes, I can assist with the proper permit if using a beach for the small gathering, as with a paddle out, and can direct you to land and ocean locations that are permitted for the scattering of cremated remains. My fee depends on the scope of service, from any personalization of the service in the way of eulogy, or perhaps that will be written and read by a surviving loved one.
Not sure if a Humanistic Funeral or Ash Scattering is for you? Here is a short video that describes how Humanists tend to think about death: Humanists UK – How Should We Think About Death
UPDATE – NOT CURRENTLY OFFERING PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES – BUT MIGHT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I’m happy to snap a few photos of you with your camera for free, before or after the ceremony, and/or can bring a tripod to hold a smart phone for a casual video recording of the ceremony.
If photos are important to you, I highly recommend hiring a professional photographer.
